Pohutu Cultural Theatre
A dazzling showcase of Maori culture in a spectacular theatre setting. The Pohutu Cultural Theatre is Rotorua's premier indoor Maori cultural venue.
Your genuine Maori experience begins with a traditional welcome as you pass beneath an imposing stone carving of a Maori Demi-God.
This five-ton testament to traditional carving expertise was crafted a one of New Zealand's foremost master carvers out of local Hinuera stone. Then an authentic Maori cultural show is played out under the gaze of five water gods, each an intricate carving brought to life through running water and dancing lights.
Myth and legend, dance and song, plus the opportunity to be moved by the power and emotion of the world famous Maori Haka. Traditional costumes spin and twirl beneath a vibrant light show with emotive imagery beamed across the supporting cast of water gods.
And to finish off, a delicious authentic Maori Celebration Feast prepared the traditional way in a Hangi pit of heated stones and aromatic herbs.
